Building order on Home Island[]
We recommend the following order in which to prioritize investing wood , coins and gems into buildings and what items to purchase on the Home Island as you level up:
Level 1
1. Build Broken Rod Anglers Store for 4 and 200
- Building this ASAP will allow you to purchase rods, bait and other useful items.
Level 2
2. Build Chuchu Boat Service (Dockyard) for 12 and 1000
- Building this will allow you to purchase additional bag slots (up to a maximum of 10). See the Dockyard page for costs.
Level 4
3. Build Jam Jar Fish Tank (Aquarium) for 25 and 3000
- Build the aquarium and upgrade it to the highest level ASAP to store fish from every destination you have unlocked as this is a great source of passive income.
- The larger the fish you store in the aquarium, the more coins it generates.
4. Build Lock Box Fine Storage (level 1, 12 storage slots) for 20 and 2000
- Items such as wood can be stored here, allowing you to save them for other buildings.
- The Lock Box can be upgraded to level 2 for 20 and 35 for an additional 17 storage slots if required.
- It can be upgraded to level 3 for 20 and 100 for an additional 8 storage slots, but this should not be required or prioritized early in the game.
Level 4+
The following buildings can be built in any order.
- Anvil Ann Workbench for 20 and 1000
- Players can acquire blueprints at a cost and craft items as alternatives to things that can be purchased in Broken Rod Anglers Store. However, crafting items can be time-consuming and more expensive in some ways.
- Clan HQ for 16 and 750 - Allows players to join clans and participate in clan challenges for rewards
- Big Fish Tournaments for 30 and 500 - Allows players to participate in tournaments and compete against other players for rewards
- Duels arena for 14 and 500 - Allows players to duel (PvP or 1v1) against other players. Winning duels does not give any rewards.
- Breezepower Station (windmill) - provides an Aqua Glow Battery after the Aqua Glow Lamp has been purchased from Broken Rod Anglers Store
Farming and levelling up[]
Wood[]
A lot of wood is required to construct everything on the Home Island, and there are several ways to acquire wood quickly:
- 3x floating wood can be collected daily from the Home Island and each destination, for a total of 21 wood (as of the Scotland update)
- The Axe can be purchased from Broken Rod Anglers Store for 250 to chop down trees on the Home Island.
- Each axe has 5 uses, and 6 trees can be chopped down.
- Trees regenerate around every 2 days, so ~3 wood can be collected from chopping trees daily.
- Wood can be requested from clan members once every 7 hours, so it is theoretically possible to get up to 3 wood from clan members.
- Excess wood can be stored in Lock Box Fine Storage for later use.
Coins[]
There are several good strategies to earn coins . These include:
- Passive income from the Aquarium
- Adding fish and monsters to the Aquarium generates passive income. The more fish and monsters from each destination, the higher the income.
- Make sure to store the largest fish of each species in the Aquarium, as larger fish will generate more income.
- Check in to the Aquarium ideally twice a day to collect your profits.
- Catch and sell high-value fish and monsters
- For example, rare fish such as White Tuna and Pacific Footballfish in Paradise Island are worth more than common fish.
- Fish from later destinations such as Australia and Scotland are worth slightly more than fish from earlier destinations such as Paradise Island.
- Complete daily quests and collect daily rewards, including:
- Newspaper rewards from logging into the game for several consecutive days
- Rewards from daily quests offered at the Info board at the Home Island (e.g. catch X fish/creatures/trash)
- Rewards from completing daily quests offered by NPCs in each location. These usually offer much higher coin rewards than if the required items were sold in the shop.
- Collect floating wood and trash items, as well as wild plants on the Home Island, and sell them for coins and karma
- Collect floating chest rewards by watching ads. If players have made a purchase with real money in the game, the floating chest rewards can be collected directly without watching ads.
- Participate in clan challenges and tournaments for a chance to win rewards.
- Note: some clan challenges and tournaments may have high entry fees, so choose wisely.
- Buy extra bag slots at the Dockyard to increase earning per trip to each destination and thus offset transportation costs.
Gems[]
- Log in everyday and collect gems on Day 5 of the newspaper rewards.
- Complete daily quests from the Info Board on the Home Island.
- Collect the floating chest rewards by watching an ad, which occasionally gives 1 . Players who have made an in-game purchase in the past can collect these at no cost and without having to watch an ad.
- Spin Mr. Octopus' wheel on Saturdays and Sundays for a chance to win gems .
- Complete in-game achievements for gem rewards.
- Complete seasonal event quests for rewards ranging from 5 to 20 .
- Complete the quests offered by Mike "Lock" Smith where he asks you to find a treasure chest. These occasionally give gems .
- Participate and score high in clan challenges and tournaments for a chance at high rewards.
XP[]
- Try to catch larger fish and monsters.
- Complete quests offered by NPCs found in various destinations and at the Home Island.
FAQs[]
What skills should I put points into?[]
Skill point distribution very much depends on individual play styles and player capabilities. We suggest distributing skill points as below:
- If you have difficulty tapping on the red bobber in time to catch certain fish, put more skill points into Reflex.
- If you have difficulty reeling large epic fish such as the Whale Shark and monsters in, even with a monster rod, put more skill points into Strength.
- We recommend putting in at least one point into Perception, this unlocks white dots that indicate where fish can be found. Three points in Perception unlock white dots for monster locations.
- We do not recommend putting skill points into Charisma. There are many better ways to earn coins (see tips above).
- All spare points can go into Luck. This increases the likelihood of catching rare and epic fish, creatures and monsters.
Can I reset my skill points?[]
As of now, unfortunately not. However, it is possible to get temporary buffs to certain skills by crafting potions and elixirs at the Workbench.
What does karma do?[]
The short answer is that we don't know yet, but it is recommended to keep your karma high by not throwing trash items into the water. Selling trash gives you one karma point per item, whereas throwing trash takes away one karma point.
Where is Shredder? Where can I find other monsters?[]
Monster locations change each day. To find out the daily location of each monster, we suggest joining the official Creatures of the Deep Discord server (https://discord.com/invite/JksmvR6YXa) and checking individual #monster channels for the current location.
Alternatively, check Browind's YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@BrowindChannel), where he posts the new locations for each monster every day.
What do I do with crystals?[]
Crystals can be deposited in the Mysterious Pond on the Home Island. We don't know what their purpose is yet, but assume this will be revealed once it is possible to collect all 8 crystals from different destinations.
How does time work?[]
The day resets at 4 am each day (your local time, may be offset depending on Daylight Savings Time or if travelling to a different time zone). Morning is from 4 am - 6 am, day is from 6 am to 6 pm, dusk is from 6 pm to 8 pm, and night is from 8 pm to 4 am. "Day" fish can be caught at any time between morning and dusk (4 am to 8 pm), and "night" fish can only be caught at night (8 pm to 4 am). For more details, see the Time and seasons page.
There is no night time in my game...[]
If it is your first day in the game, just wait a day! The day/night cycle should work normally the next day.
Can I catch fish if they are out of season?[]
Yes. If a fish is out of season, it means that it can still be caught, but its size will be limited to a maximum of 1 star.
Which rod should I use?[]
- Wooden Rod: Very cheap at 100 . Has 24 uses. Catches most common fish, creatures and trash. Recommended for newer players and for quickly catching large quantities of fish for a profit. Can also be used to catch trash quickly.
- Fiberglass Rod: Relatively cheap at 500 . Has 37 uses. Can be used to catch rare fish and creatures. Definitely better than a wooden rod, but not nearly as good as a carbon rod.
- Carbon Rod: Somewhat pricy at 1000 . Has 49 uses. An excellent choice for catching heavier fish (=more stars) as well as most epic fish and creatures. Can also catch some monsters (depending on skill point distribution). Not suitable for catching trash. We recommend using this rod in most scenarios for casual and competitive fishing.
- Monster Hunter Rod: Very pricy at 3000 . Has 59 uses. Strongly recommended for catching monsters as well as large hard-to-catch fish (e.g. Whale Shark). Definitely do not used for trash.
- Garbage Grabber Rod: Cheap at 350 . Has 29 uses. An excellent choice for collecting large quantities of trash. Cast and reel for best results.
- SlowMo Rod: Expensive at 10 . Has 37 uses. Recommended for players who may have difficulties catching large/epic fish and monsters with any other rod.
For complete details on all the different kinds of rods that can be purchased or crafted, their pros and cons, and rod durability, see Rods.
What does the red/orange dot on my rod mean?[]
It means that your rod is about to break and there are less than 7 uses (orange dot) uses or 3 uses (red dot) left. For more details, see how rod durability works.
How do lures work? Which lures should I upgrade?[]
Equipping lures for a certain fish, creature or monster increases your chances of catching heavier specimens (=more stars) of that species. The higher the level of the lure, the higher your chances of catching larger fish. However, you may need to upgrade lures to level 5 or higher before there is a noticeable effect on the size of fish caught, so we do not recommend investing into lures at lower character levels and until you have unlocked all destinations and buildings.
Note: when a lure is equipped, it is not possible to catch more than a 1-star fish/creature/monster of any other species.
Lures can be useful when playing competitively (e.g. when participating in tournaments, clan challenges, or season rankings). See our recommendations for the best lures to upgrade depending on individual playstyle.
My wind turbine has disappeared...[]
This is a known bug. Restart the game and it should appear again.
What are VIP tickets for?[]
VIP tickets can be used to travel to special locations, such as Chemical Plant. This location is currently available only on weekends when Leonardo arrives on the Home Island. Individual trips to Chemical Plant cost VIP tickets , varying between 50 and 200 tickets per trip.
How do I earn VIP tickets?[]
VIP tickets can be acquired by participating in and winning duels, and by climbing duel leagues.
What does Agent S. want?[]
No one knows. Agent S. continues to be shrouded in mystery as of now.
Do any boat upgrades do anything more than being cosmetic?[]
The motor and double motor are the only two boat upgrades that are not just cosmetic, and they provide a small boost to boat speed. These can be purchased at the Dockyard for 100 and 500 , respectively.
