There are various aspects to gameplay in Creatures of the Deep.
Game Progression[]
Players can unlock new areas, catch new species of fish, creatures and trash, and also complete quests, in order to gain rewards. Players are encouraged to explore new maps and not restrain themselves to a single map until all fish/items in that map have been discovered, as there will be certain fish that are more difficult to catch at lower levels due to rod strength and main quest progression.
So get your sailing hat on and fish anywhere your money can take you!
Main Quests[]
Each map has its own main quest character. Following this character's quests grants the player rewards such as experience points, coins , gems and bait . Completing all main quests in a map allows the player to catch the monster in that map, and also provides additional information on where and how to catch that monster.
Side Quests[]
Depending on the player level, side characters show up in each map asking for something. Completing these quests (available once a day per map) grants the player some rewards and experience points.
Daily Quests[]
The Info Board on the Home Island provides additional daily quests that are "Catch X fish/creatures/trash". Completing these quests provides some amount of coins and gems .
Skill points[]
- Main article: Skills
Players gain one skill point each time they level up. Skill points can be put into one of five skills:
Luck[]
"Increases the chance of catching rare and valuable fish"
Strength[]
"Boosts your ability to reel in larger fish by providing greater power and control"
Reflex[]
"Reflex attribute sharpens your senses, allowing you to react faster to the fish bite and increasing your chances of catching it"
Perception[]
"Helps you detect fish more easily"
Adding points to perception increases the frequency of bubbles that indicate schools of fish in the water.
Charisma[]
"Help you negotiate better prices for your catches"
Points in charisma increase the amount of coins earned by selling items. The exact percentage by which item value goes up is not currently known, but it appears to be around 1 per item.
Pay attention: You cannot reset your skills.
Karma[]
“If you put good into the world, good comes back to you”
Karma is a player stat that can be increased by selling trash items. Each trash item sold gives one karma point, and each trash item tossed back into the ocean takes away one karma point.
What exactly karma affects is not known; however, the common belief is that higher karma increases the chances of catching larger or rarer fish. It is generally advisable not to throw trash back into the sea and to keep karma as high as possible.
Experience points[]
Players receive experience points (XP) for catching fish, creatures, items and monsters, and for completing certain quests.
