Cap’n Slappy

Cap'n Slappy is the main quest giver in the first destination of Paradise Island.

Upon starting Creatures of the Deep for the first time, Cap'n Slappy meets the player and provides a brief tutorial to fishing in the game. This tutorial includes an introduction to catching various fish, creatures and trash, as well as various fishing techniques, such as 'active fishing', 'cast and wait' and 'cast and reel'. He also provides a quick overview of the Bestiary and introduces the player to the local legends of the bull shark named "Shredder".

After the player has completed all of Cap'n Slappy's quests, including catching Shredder, he rewards the player with the Shredder badge. After having completed this series of quests, Cap'n Slappy also rewards the player with the Mysterious Crystal, which can be added to the Mysterious Pond on the Home Island.

Completing the final quest also unlocks the "Hunter of Legends" achievement on Android and iOS.

There's a MONSTER in these waters that is almost impossible to find. Help me with few things, and I'll tell you more!

Let's start with a simple quest... Catch 3 fish and bring them back to me.

I've marked the best spot on the map to make it easier for you. Just follow the buoys, and you'll find it. Good luck!

Wow! Nice catch! You are awesome! Take this phone . Use it to view information about all the species you caught. Let's stay in touch.

Now, go to the helicopter and fly to your island to sell fish. When you finish your business, come back to me.

One fish

Ahoy, my friend! I hope you still remember how to fish? Bring me any fish and I'll reward you with some coins .

Shredder

The Bull Shark named "Shredder" is very difficult to find and then catch. Are you interested in taking on this challenge? I'll reward you well if you can do it.

• Cap'n Slappy is likely named after The Cap'n Slappy, one of the co-founders of International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
• In an earlier version of the game, Cap'n Slappy asked the player to bring him an Old Phone, which he then gave to the player to keep track of all the species they caught (this was a tutorial for the Bestiary). The original conversation was as below:
